iFresh Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-08-06 ยท Version 1.0
This policy explains what information iFresh processes, where it stays, and the choices you have. iFresh is designed to be private by default: your food inventory and settings stay on your device unless you actively choose a backup, an AI service, a family group, or another optional feature.
1. What iFresh Is
iFresh is a food record and reminder tool that helps you organize your food list, expiry dates and reminders. It does not produce, sell, store or test food, and it does not provide any food safety guarantee. Food safety decisions are always made by you based on the actual condition of the food and its package.
2. Information You Provide
- Food inventory, expiry dates, reminders, weekly reports, chat history and diet preferences are stored on your device.
- If you sign in with Apple, Apple may share your name and email address with iFresh. iFresh uses the stable Apple user identifier to enable optional iCloud backup and family features. The identifier is stored in the device Keychain.
- If you create a family group, the group name, invite code, member identifiers and the family food list are stored through CloudKit so that invited family members can view the shared list.
3. On-Device Data
Food records, reminders, weekly reports, chat history and diet preferences stay on this device by default. They are not uploaded to our servers. Photos used for scanning are processed locally on your device.
4. iCloud and CloudKit
iCloud and CloudKit are optional and only used when you choose to enable them:
- iCloud Drive backup files and CloudKit backup records are stored in your personal iCloud account and controlled by your Apple ID.
- CloudKit sync stores a copy of your inventory in your private iCloud database so your own devices can stay in sync.
- Family group data is stored in the CloudKit public database for the container used by iFresh and is accessible only through the 6-character invite code.
- Deleting an iCloud backup in the app removes it from iCloud storage.
5. AI Features
- The built-in Food Assistant runs without sending your data anywhere.
- If you configure an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, iFresh asks for your explicit consent before sending your food inventory or chat content. The request states that data will be sent to the service you configure, and the API key is stored only in the device Keychain.
- You can remove the AI configuration or stop using external AI at any time.
6. IP Location (Optional)
- Only if you allow it, iFresh sends your IP address to third-party IP services (ipwho.is, ipinfo.io, ipapi.co) to recommend local cuisine.
- Food inventory, photos and chat content are never sent with IP location requests.
- You can turn this off at any time in AI Settings > Recipe Region.
7. Camera, Photos, Microphone and Speech
- Camera and photo library access are used only when you scan a barcode, QR code or food label. Recognition runs locally on your device.
- Microphone and speech recognition are used only when you use voice input. Speech recognition uses Apple's Speech framework, and iFresh requests on-device recognition when supported.
- Permission descriptions are shown by iOS before first use.
8. Notifications
Reminders are delivered as local notifications on your device. iFresh does not operate a push server and does not collect notification data.
9. Analytics and Advertising
iFresh does not include third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking. iFresh does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA).
10. Data Retention and Deletion
- Data stays on your device until you delete it. Use Settings > Data Cleanup or Reset Data to remove foods, reminders and reports.
- Reset Data keeps your Apple login; to sign out use the Account screen.
- To delete iCloud backups, use the Backup list in Settings or the iCloud Drive iFresh folder.
- Leaving or disbanding a family group removes your access; disbanding deletes the shared group record.
- You may request deletion of data held by the developer by contacting support.
11. Children
iFresh is a general food inventory tool and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. International Users
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the UK or other regions with similar data protection laws, iFresh is the data controller for the limited information described above. You may contact us to exercise your access, correction, deletion, portability or complaint rights.
13. Security
- API keys and the Apple user identifier are stored in the device Keychain.
- Data in transit to your configured AI service or other endpoints is sent over HTTPS where the endpoint provides it.
- Backups use your own iCloud account and follow Apple's security measures.
14. Changes
We may update this policy when features change. Material changes will be reflected by a new version and effective date at the top of this page.
